Evgeni Malkin has taken the responsibility of stepping up to the plate with Sidney Crosby being out with a concussion most of the year very well. Especially of late Malkin has been playing amazing and has been putting up the stats to go with it. Right now he leads the league in points.

On Friday the Carolina Hurricanes traded forward Alexei Ponikarovsky for defensemen Joseph Sova and a fourth round draft pick in the 2012 entry draft. In the first game that Alexei poinkarovsky played wearing a Devils uniform scored the only goal for New Jersey. Joseph Sova will play in the Hurricanes AHL team the Charlotte Checkers.

For the 2012 All Star game to alternate captains to assist Zdeno Chara and Daniel Alfredsson. Henrik Lundqvist was chosen to assist Daniel Alfredsson, and Joffery Lupul was chosen to be an alternate captain to Chara.
