Six games were played in the National Hockey League. The Pittsburgh Penguins played the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Hurricanes played the Capitals, the New York Rangers played the Montreal Canadians, San Jose played Chicago, the Kings played the Oilers, and the Anaheim Ducks played the Vancouver Canucks. Pittsburgh blew out Tampa Bay in a six to one victory for the Penguins. Evegni Malkin got a hat trick, (scored three goals). Washington squeaked a win out of the game against the Hurricanes where the Canes were the better team. The Caps won two, one. The Rangers are number one in the league but fell to the Canadians in a four, one loss. The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Sharks in a three, one score after sixty minutes. The only game of the night to go into extra time was the two, one victory for the Oilers over the Kings in overtime. The Anaheim Ducks beat the Vancouver Canucks in a four, two win.
