Last night the New York Rangers played the Buffalo Sabers, the Pittsburgh Penguins played the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Washington Capitals played the Florida Panthers, the Dallas Stars faced off with the Anaheim Ducks, and the Columbus Blue Jackets played the Los Angeles Kings. The Rangers, Sabers game went through sixty-five minutes stayed zero, zero and went into a shootout. During the shootout Marian Gaborik and Ryan Callahan scored for New York. Jason Pominville scored the lone goal for losing effort from the Sabers. The Pittsburgh, Toronto game was also decided by one goal. The maple Leafs scored in late in the third period with a goal from Clarke MacArthur. The game ended one, zero in favor of the Maple Leafs. Florida doubled Washington in a score of four, two. Dallas blew out Anaheim in a six, two victory with goals from Eric Nystrom, Vernon Fiddler, Jamie Benn, Stephane Robidas, Sheldon Souray, and Michael Ryder. Los Angeles squeaked out a win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Justin Williams, Dustin Penner, and Drew Doughty scored for the Kings. Derek Dorsett and Colton Gillies scored the two goals for the Blue Jackets. The second game back from the All-Star break helped some teams get out of the vacation funk.
