Only five games were played last night in National Hockey League. Florida played New Jersey, The Rangers played the Penguins, the Colorado Avalanche played the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo played Carolina and the New York Islanders played the Anaheim Ducks. The New Jersey Devils blew out the struggling Florida Panthers in a five to two Jersey victory. Two top teams in the league, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers played in a hard fought battle by both teams. New York came out on top of a three, one victory. The Carolina Hurricanes won against the Buffalo Sabers in what felt like a war between two teams, with the end score being two, four. Colorado played the excelling Blackhawks and ended up getting a shutout win against them. The Avalanche topped their fourth win in a row with a shutout by Semyon Varlamov. The Islanders and Anaheim, two teams in the bottom of the league, played last night. The Ducks beat the Islanders in a four, two victory. Many say that a goal by Bobby Ryan in the third period of the game was the goal of the year so far. Watch now at http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hdpid=49&id=147863.
