January 1, 2012

On the first night of 2012 there was only one hockey game on. It was between the Calgary Flames and the Nashville Predators. In the first period Jarome Iginla, Kevin Klein, and Sergei Kostitsyn scored to put the Preds up two to one after twenty minutes. In the second period Matt Halichuk, and Sergei Kostitsyn scored to farther Nashville's lead to four to one. In the final period Rene Bourque, and Brendan Morrison scored to make the score four to three, Preds. With thirty seconds left in the game Kevin Klein shot the puck down to the Flames empty net, but just before the puck went in the net Sergei Kostitsyn tapped it in and netted his third goal of the night, giving him a hatrick. The game ended five to three favoring the Nashville Predators.
